Credit Hedge Fund Assistant Controller

Our client is a growing 3+ billion aum Multi-strategy credit fund that invests in the most interesting and complex of products. The firm is looking to add a Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller to report directly to the CFO.

Position description:

The Senior Fund Accountant is responsible for providing all fund accounting related functions. These responsibilities include the preparation and maintenance of journal entries and the general ledger for various firm entities, calculation and review of fund NAV’s and investor allocations, review of fund organization documents, providing assistance and guidance on accounting standards and best practices,  and.coordination with various firm departments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entities for various transactions
  • Maintain the general ledger for all hedge funds, managed accounts, and special purpose vehicles in Advent Geneva
  • Prepare reconciliation of trial balances between Advent Geneva and the fund administrator records
  • Prepare weekly and monthly NAV’s for multiple entities
  • Prepare weekly and monthly investor allocations and returns for multiple entities
  • Prepare monthly calculations of management and performance fees
  • Provide technical accounting, product, and industry knowledge to various parties
  • Coordinate with Trading, Operations, Tax, Investor Relations and other teams
  • Review operating agreements, subscription agreements and other fund organization documents
  • Aid in the preparation and review of annual financial statements
  • Aid in the completion of the annual audits for multiple entities
  • Ad hoc reports and special projects as needed

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2–3 years of fund accounting experience
  • 2-3 years of public accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing general ledgers, trial balances, and financial statements
  • Experience in calculating and reviewing NAV’s, investor allocations, and returns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word essential,
  • Advent Geneva experience preferred, but not required
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Fixed income and/or credit products experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work closely with team members as well as independently
